Belle of the Yukon, the 1944 William A. Seiter Canadian Alaska Gold Rush romantic musical starring Randolph Scott, Gypsy Rose Lee, Dinah Shore (very young in this role!), Bob Burns (he was a well known musical comedian of the 1930s; he created a character called "The Arkansas Traveler", a hillbilly-like guy with many wacky relatives, and he always played a homemade horn-like instrument called the "bazooka", and he was often referred to as "Bob Bazooka Burns"; he appeared with Bob Crosby's band in the 1930s, which led to 12 movie appearances, always in character and was married to fellow hillbilly Judy Canova from 1936 to 1939), Charles Winninger, William Marshall, Guinn 'Big Boy' Williams, Robert Armstrong (best remembered as Carl Denham in "King Kong") and Florence Bates. Note that Gypsy Rose Lee (whose life story was highly fictionalized in the play and movie "Gypsy") was born in 1911 to the ultimate stage mother, who devoted her life to trying to give her two daughters successful careers in show business.
